LAFD closes deal to extract Wes Anderson from stalled Academy Museum elevator

After a competitive multi-agency bidding war, the Los Angeles Fire Department has officially closed a deal to extract auteur Wes Anderson, frequent collaborator Luke Wilson, and veteran producer James L. Brooks from a stalled elevator at the Academy Museum of Motion Pictures.

The highly anticipated extraction, which sources close to the museum say languished in turnaround for over 45 minutes, finally received a green light late Thursday evening. Insiders report that Anderson and his reps were initially hesitant to let a municipal agency handle the high-profile release, briefly holding out for a boutique tactical firm that could guarantee a perfectly symmetrical breach.

According to an executive familiar with the matter, the LAFD ultimately secured the project by pitching a hard-breach strategy using a specialized pry-bar tool. Sources add that Brooks was instrumental in managing the talent and keeping the room focused while terms were finalized over the emergency intercom.

“

We initially looked at a windowing strategy where they would remain trapped through awards season, but the Fire Department's extraction timeline was simply too aggressive to pass up.

Box office analysts note the 45-minute delay, originally scheduled as a simple post-screening transit following a *Bottle Rocket* anniversary event, escalated rapidly into a four-quadrant spectacle. While neither Wilson nor Brooks have commented on their back-end compensation for the ordeal, reps for the LAFD confirmed the department retains all domestic streaming rights to the ensuing body-cam footage.
