Linda Cobb, 62, whose tenure as treasurer of the Whispering Pines Homeowners Association redefined the limits of residential jurisdiction, died Tuesday of sudden cardiac arrest while measuring the height of an unauthorized dandelion. Cobb collapsed in the front yard of 402 Elm Court, a retractable tape measure still clutched in her right hand.
During her unprecedented run on the board, Cobb successfully lobbied to ban three shades of exterior taupe, survived a bruising 2019 recall effort over driveway chalk, and held the subdivision record for spotting improperly concealed trash cans from a moving vehicle.
She died doing exactly what she loved, which was ensuring the natural world complied with Section 4 of the community bylaws.
She is survived by her husband, two adult children, and a geometrically flawless front lawn. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that all garage doors remain strictly closed.
