Craig Munson, 52, died Tuesday of sheer exhaustion following a protracted, multi-week Ryobi leaf-blower arms race with the man across the street. He collapsed in his driveway shortly after engaging the turbo button.
A lifelong resident of the Whispering Pines subdivision, Munson was known for his unyielding commitment to property line defense. He held the neighborhood record for returning a borrowed ladder (11 years) and survived a grueling 2019 kitchen remodel that claimed his sanity for six months. His final days were spent pacing his driveway with a 730-CFM Whisper Series blower, refusing to retreat indoors until his neighbor powered down first.
He died doing what he loved: moving three damp oak leaves back and forth across the property line for four consecutive hours.
Munson is survived by his wife, two adult children, and six fully charged 40-volt lithium-ion batteries. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that mourners blow their grass clippings directly into the street.
