We must honor the DOJ whistleblowers who exposed Biden by firing them immediately

BY: @op_ed_politics2 HOURS AGO
└─ FIG. 01 President Donald Trump gestures at a DOJ briefing podium in a wood-paneled room, flanked by a gray-suited lawyer with arms crossed and a red-shirted cashier holding a mop and bucket, with an empty chair in the foreground.

The Trump administration’s new report reveals that career Justice Department lawyers bravely stood up to a biased 2021 Covid memo. Now, for the good of the republic, those exact same lawyers must be purged from the government.

Let's be honest. The mainstream media is entirely missing the point of the latest Department of Justice report regarding the infamous 2021 Biden administration memo on schools and Covid-19. All week, the press has been crowing about a supposed irony. They eagerly point out that President Trump's administration is using objections raised by career DOJ officials to prove the previous policy was hopelessly biased against conservatives, while simultaneously forcing those very same career officials out of their jobs.

To the untrained eye of a coastal elite, this looks like a contradiction. To those of us who actually understand how power works in this town, it is a masterclass in governance.

We owe these career attorneys an immense debt of gratitude. When President Biden's White House tried to weaponize the justice system regarding school board protests and pandemic mandates, these noble public servants reviewed the legal framework and pushed back. They documented their concerns. They left a paper trail that the incoming administration has rightfully published as undeniable proof of the radical left's overreach. They are conservative heroes. And that is exactly why they cannot be allowed to remain in the building for another second.

I was at a private lunch at an upscale steakhouse just this past Tuesday, sipping sparkling water with a high-level advisor who really understands the optics of the situation. Someone at the table asked the obvious, pedestrian question: if these lawyers are the ones who fought the Biden agenda from the inside, shouldn't we keep them around? I practically choked on my lemon wedge.

This demonstrates a fundamental misunderstanding of the conservative project. Yes, they agreed with us on this specific memo. But they arrived at that conclusion through independent legal analysis, a rigid adherence to statutory text, and a commitment to institutional norms. Do you have any idea how dangerous that is?

The true mark of political savvy is knowing exactly when to fire the people who just proved you right.

Today, their objective legal analysis happens to align with the president's agenda. But what about tomorrow? A career official who pushes back against a Democratic president because they genuinely believe in the rule of law is a ticking time bomb. They are just as likely to push back against a Republican president for the exact same reason. We cannot build a loyal administration on the fragile foundation of people who actually read the law.

The true threat to democracy is a civil servant with a consistent set of principles. We need patriots who agree with us because they are told to, not because they independently evaluated the evidence and came to a legally sound conclusion.

“

The fact that they were right about the Biden memo only makes them more suspicious.

—Carter Hemlock, Deputy Director of Ideological Cohesion at the Department of Justice

Hemlock is entirely correct. The whistleblowers who exposed the bias of the 2021 memo are textbook examples of the Deep State. The defining characteristic of the Deep State isn't that they are always wrong. It is that they believe they have the right to be right without checking with the Oval Office first.

By firing the exact people who proved the Trump administration's point, the White House is sending a beautiful, clarifying message to the voters. It says: we do not care what you did for us yesterday, we only care that you are entirely disposable today. It takes incredible political courage to hand a pink slip to the person who just handed you your best talking point.

Some of these ousted attorneys are reportedly confused. They thought they were the good guys in this narrative. They thought that by providing the exact written objections the administration is currently using to dunk on the previous administration on national television, their jobs would be safe. It is honestly touching how naive these highly educated professionals can be.

True loyalty to the movement means recognizing that your career must be sacrificed so that President Trump can brag about the report you wrote while simultaneously claiming everyone in your department is a treasonous hack. You cannot have the omelet without breaking the eggs, and you cannot dismantle the administrative state without firing the people who are currently handing you the sledgehammer.

So I say thank you to the brave career officials of the DOJ. Your legal acumen exposed the partisan overreach of the Biden era. Your memos will serve as the foundation of our platform for the next four years. Now please hand your keycards to security on the way out, and take comfort in knowing your unemployment is a vital victory for the American people.

Biden-Era Memo on Covid and Schools Set Off Dispute in Justice Dept.

The Trump administration released a report showing career officials had objected to the 2021 memo as evidence that the policy was biased against conservatives. But in an ironic twist, the administration has forced out many of the objectors.

The news, approximately.
